| Alarming Prescription Drug Abuse Rates are Causing Concern |
Last year, about 12 million Americans were abusing prescription painkillers with or without a valid prescription, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some of the most popular being: Vicodin, OxyContin and methadone. The high rates are alarming to health officials, “The amount of painkillers made available at pharmacies, hospitals and doctors’ offices quadrupled from 1999 to 2010, contributing to the overdose death rate that more than tripled over the decade.” (Read more // Reuters)
